Our Story
As a child, I grew up with science kits such as TinkerCrates, Snap Circuits, and robotics sets. These kits were a huge influence on my childhood and sparked my love for discovery from a young age. However, as I grew older, I realized that many of these kits were costly and beyond the reach of many students. I hope to make that same joy that I found as a kid accessible to all, regardless of socioeconomic status.
In 2022, I pitched the idea to my friends, and soon, we started STEMChests. We designed each of the experiments ourselves—making experiments with primarily house-hold items to show students that it is possible to find science in their own homes. Now, STEMChests has a dedicated team of amazing high school students and has expanded into an 501(c)(3) IRS-certified non-profit that has impacted hundreds of kids (and counting!). As we look towards the future, we hope to continue inspiring students to build, explore, and experiment.

Mia Shujath
Mia is a co-president at STEMChests and a senior at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School. She is very passionate about science and works in a cancer research lab. A musical spirit, she also plays and teaches the piano!
Mariam Kupatadze
Mariam is a co-president at STEMChests and a senior at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School. She loves spreading her passion for science and advocating for those who have limited access to STEM education. In her free time, she likes to play the guitar, go on bike rides, and paint.
Milan Bhayana
Milan is the former President of STEMChests, and a freshman at the University of Pennsylvania. He's passionate about solving educational inequities through unique methods of teaching. An avid chef, he loves to bring his scientific skills into the kitchen!
Josh Iceland
Josh is the former director of kit design at STEMChests! He's a freshman at the University of Pennsylvania. In his free time Josh enjoys playing soccer, listening to music and scooping ice cream!
Nubia Adena
Nubia is the former director of kit manufacturing at STEMChests. She's a hard worker who's passionate about organization and engineering.
Jacob Lerman
Jacob is the former director of Workshops at STEMChests! He is a freshman at Brown University, and loves connecting with orders and spreading his passion for math and science. He loves to play pickleball in his free time!
Kathryn Grey
Kathryn is the former director of kit design at STEMChests! She loves to read Jane Austen while riding a horse.
Theordora Curtin
Teddy is the former director of artwork at STEMChests! She's a freshman at Cornell University. Outside of drawing amazing booklets, Teddy fhocks it up on the Field Hockey field.
Aditya Das
Aditya Das is the founder and first President of STEMChests. He's currently extending his education as a sophomore at Yale University. He's a fierce advocate for diversity in STEM, and in his free time plays piano, paints, and listen to music!
Annie Gao
Annie Gao is a sophomore at the University of Pennsylvania. Outside of her interest in physics and promoting STEM education, she loves to run, bake cakes, and make coffee.
NuAmen Audena
NuAmen is a sophomore at the University of Pennsylvania. He loves physics and computer science, as well as music. He's an excellent saxophone player, and loves to experiment with hair dye.
Anika Rai
Anika is sophomore at the University of Maryland. She has a passion for computer science and business which fuels her love of innovation and creativity! In her free time she runs, takes long showers, and keeps up with Formula 1.
